Library Media Center

Welcome to Wilson Library

The library is open to our students from 7:45-3:30 each day. There is a scheduled time each week for your student to come with his/her class to the library.  My hope is that during the time spent in the library they will learn library skills, learn to research, and learn to love reading.

Learning library skills will not only help them navigate the shelves of our library, but also teach them to navigate other physical libraries. Once they learn how the different sections of a library work, then they should be able to walk into any public or school library and quickly figure out where the major sections are located.

Research skills are extremely important as our students move through school towards college. Being able to locate credible information on the Internet and use it in an appropriate manner is a skill that all students need to understand.  As social media continues to grow, it is very important for students to realize that what they put out on the web is permanent. So students will also learn how to safely and responsibly use digital communications.

Learning to love reading is also something that I will spend a good amount of time teaching in our library. Being a good reader increases all aspects of education, so my expectation is for all student's reading abilities to increase to meet the needs of what they are learning in class. It is my personal goal to find the absolute best book to put in the hands of your child, so that they will develop a love of reading.

I look forward to the new year and all the wonderful books that I will share with your child.

Mrs. Martin
